About Crystal Ball Records
Crystal Ball Records has been in existence since 1978, almost 30 years. It was founded by Ed Engel, who is considered by many in the industry today to be a ‘musical historian’ when it comes to the music of the 1950’s and 1960’s. Crystal Ball began its roots producing 45’s, which eventually became LP’s and now produces CD’s. Several years ago Crystal Ball expanded and became an international distributor handling not just Crystal Ball merchandise but similar product by others from the USA, Sweden, Germany, Australia, Japan and the UK.
In addition to producing and distributing, Ed has written a book entitled ‘White & Still Alright’ (First Edition 1977, Second Edition 1980), which chronicles the formation of the early white group sound. Although it is now out of print, over 4,000 copies sold. He’s authored several magazine publications, such as Bim, Bam, Boom and Time Barrier Express. Most recently he was sought by the folks at Time Life and asked to assist on the ‘Sound of The City: New York Area Doo-Wop (1956-1966) 3CD set’. Ed received credit as one of the Compilation Producers, for writing the liner notes, and providing the great photos within.
We truly do this for the love of the music and thank you for helping keep it alive. Take your time, browse through the site, email or call if you have a question but most of all – ENJOY THE MUSIC!
